From Fujifilm to Canon — and back

Gear doesn’t matter, until it does. For me gear does matter most of the time and here I will make the argument as to why that is.

Let’s start with a quick recap of my camera history:

• 2006: Nikon D200 (DSLR) 🤮
• 2008: Nikon D700 (DSLR) ❤️
• 2016: Nikon D750 (DSLR) 👍
• 2019: Fujifilm X-T4 (Mirrorless) 👍
• 2022: Fujifilm X-E4 (Mirrorless) ❤️
• 2024: Fujifilm GFX 100s ll (Mirrorless medium format) 👍
• 2025: Canon R8 (Mirrorless) 👍
• 2025: Fujifilm X-E5 (Mirrorless) ❤️

Some of them I’ve truly loved. All the others were OK. They did the job but they never really vibed with me. The one exception to that is the Nikon D200 which was technically terrible. There has been some experiments with other, older Fujifilm cameras in the last 5 years, but these were my main cameras. For now X-E5 and GFX 100s ll are the ones I use.
